Keep Going, Immediately is an invitation to discuss, dissect and divert from
conventionally defined polarities of success and failure. Whether motivated
by belief in emancipatory individualism or utopian democracy, advertising and
communications mantras reiterate that everything and anything is possible if only
we keep going, immediately. “what are the measures of success?” “what does
success look like?”
From 2.30pm – 5.30pm, presentations, performative
actions and debate with artists, writers and curators examine notions of being
successful, being fringe and getting on with it, examining the transplantation
of management speak and instrumental values to the wider context of contemporary
ideology, and precarious nature of cultural activity. In conjunction with Grunts
for the Arts, Counterproductions and /seconds.
From 6.30pm, Rational
Rec will take over the space to present the second of three public dialogues connected
to the Rational Rec 2010 commission. Artists Emma Hart, Paul B Davis and Charlie
Fox will discuss the progress of their collaborative commission, reflecting on
the relationship between process and outcome, as well as exploring the expectations
of those who commissioned them. www.ceciliawee.com www.rationalrec.org.uk www.gruntsforthearts.wordpress.com www.counterproductions.co.uk www.slashseconds.org
