Self Assembly: Working as an Artist Educator

Artquest are delighted to begin their new season of Self Assembly talks in association with Matt Robert’s Open Forum 2010. Self Assembly is a talks programme providing practical advice and case studies on different aspects of a visual artist's or craftsperson's career. This roaming talks programme, aiming to visit as wide a range and geographic spread of London's art organisations as possible, provides practical insight into different elements of an artists practice.  Each talk comprises a general introduction to the topic in hand and a case study, presented by a practising artist, using their career as inspiration.  Each talk is also recorded and made available on this page for the benefit of artists and craftspeople anywhere in the world.

This, our first session of 2010 will look different ways in which artists can work with organisations in an education context, how it can benefit your wider practice, who your potential employers and clients are and how best to approach them. This session will include a presentation and artists case study by practitioner and educator Cath Hawes who has had a wealth of experience working in the Arts education sector. For a full biography and for more information about the Self Assembly talks series including audio of past sessions please visit the Artquest website at www.artquest.org.uk/projects/self-assembly.htm
